Comprehensive Solutions for Transport Compliance
Restricted Operator Licences

Restricted operator licences do not require a qualified CPC Transport Manager like Standard National and Standard International Licences. They do, however need to understand and agree to the legal undertakings of the licence.
What happens if you do not comply with the undertakings? Traffic Commissioners are responsible for licensing and regulating operators of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). If any area of this is found to be non-compliant this can result in several costly issues for your business such as:
- Being called to a public inquiry/preliminary hearing.
- Driver conduct hearing for vocational drivers.
- Operator licences can be curtailed, suspended or revoked.
- Drivers can be disqualified or have their professional entitlement suspended/removed
Applicants are required to meet several requirements when applying for an operator’s licence, it can be difficult to know which rules apply to you. Providing the wrong information or failing to show that you satisfy the eligibility criteria could lead to long delays and prevent you from using your vehicles.
We work closely with our clients to provide them with the best possible chance of getting their licence applications successfully granted. With extensive experience of operator licensing, we offer clear and practical advice at every stage of the process from the initial consultation; the preparation of your online application; the checking of your supporting documentation and information; through to liaising with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner on your behalf, until your application has been finalised. In addition to initial Licence applications, we are also able to provide our expert assistance for applications to vary an existing Licence, for changes such as:
- An increase in the vehicle and/or trailer authority
- An additional or change of operating centre
- A change in the Licence type

You are normally required to respond within 14 days so don’t delay contact us today to see how we can help
An operator’s licence audit is the only way to fully know you are complying with the legal requirements of your operator’s licence and can satisfy the Traffic Commissioner of compliance with the legal undertakings required. Most operators may be confident that they meet these requirements, but it is possible to have underlying issues that are not recognised or correctly managed despite the best efforts of the licence holder.
An independent, external review of the operation can be the best way to give a business a ‘health check’. Our compliance audit services provide this to operators of all types and size, enabling management to understand the positive and negative aspects of their operations, address areas of concern and implement appropriate systems to ensure continued compliance.
Dependant on the operator’s individual needs, our audits can cover but are not limited to the following areas of the operation:
- Operator licence compliance
- Maintenance
- Driver management
- Drivers’ hours and tachographs
- Vehicle fleet management
- General requirements From these areas an audit report is then provided, giving an overview of the operation and general comments on performance along with details of any Action points – (where immediate rectification of serious issues is needed) and Recommendations – (systems and best practices that they may wish to adopt).
